Fremont History

Fremont was founded in 1856. The city was named after John C. Fremont, an American explorer, military official and politician. The area was a major route for the hunters and the military in the 19th century. Because of its convenient geographical location, a railroad (1886), transcontinental telegraph line (1861) and highway (1913) all were constructed passing through the area.
